24-man Gilas pool to be announced on January 22

Samahang Basketnol ng Pilipinas and Philippine Basketball Association will announce the 24-man Gilas pool for international basketball tournaments this year.

The announcement will be made after the game of Alaska and Mahindra on January 22, 2017 in the Philsports Arena at Pasig City.

The 24-man pool will have the 12 Gilas cadets:

1. Mac Belo
2. Jiovani Jalalon
3. Kevin Ferrer
4. Von Pessumal
5. Russell Escoto
6. Roger Pogoy
7. Mike Tolomia
8. Arnold Van Opstal
9. Matthew Wright
10. Alfonso Gotladera
11. Ed Daquioag
12. Carl Bryan Cruz

Some of the players who is likely to fill the lineup are June Mar Fajardo, Jeff Chan, Raymond Almazan, Gabe Norwood, Marcio Lassiter, Alex Cabagnot, Calvin Abueva, Japeth Aguilar, Terrence Romeo, JC Intal, Paul Lee, Marc Pingris and naturalized player Andray Blatche.

If Jayson Castro will change his decision and unretire from international play we should expect that he will be part of this pool.

The team will be headed by Coach Chot Reyes who replaced Tab Baldwin last October 2016.
